How to Make a Delicious Beef Puff
Beef puff is a flakey pastry filled with savoury curried beef and onions. You can get them in Chinese bakeries and they are so delicious that you can’t stop eating them! This is a really simple recipe to make and you can easily make them at home too. It’s also a great snack or appetizer to share with friends.
Start by preparing the filling. Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat, and saute the onion until it turns translucent, and add the ground beef and stir to break up any chunks. When the meat is browned, add the spices, and stir to combine. Then, pour in the beef broth and stir until the liquid is fully incorporated and the mixture is smooth. Transfer the beef curry puff mixture to a bowl and let cool.
Next, prepare the puff pastry by thawing it at room temperature for 25-35 minutes. Cut each puff pastry sheet into 6 roughly 5-inch squares. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
Before you assemble the beef curry puffs, brush one of the squares with an egg wash, making sure to leave an inch clear around the edge. This will help them seal well when baked.
You can use store bought puff pastry for this recipe, or try a homemade rough puff instead. Rough puff is a bit easier to work with than traditional puff pastry, and you still get that lovely flaky texture you crave. بف لحم
